Who are Erne Power.
Erne Power has been established to investigate, promote and develop products, in all areas of renewable energy for the domestic and commercial markets.

Our immediate aim is to simplify and clarify the terms 'renewable energy' for the home owner (Self Build), electrician, electrical contractor and developer. We are also very interested in working closely with the following Groups and Organisations:

	Councils		Businesses		Architects
	Schools		Community Groups		Housing Associations

Although Grants and Funding is a fast moving topic, we are endeavouring to keep up with the current position. Please contact us if you have any questions in this regard.

Why are Renewable Energies needed?

Renewable energies are energies that come from natural resources, and are constantly replenished through the natural cycles of nature.

The main sources are:

	Wind (turbines)		The Sun (Solar energy)
	Moving Water (HydroPower, Wave and tidal energy)		Heat below the surface of the earth. (Geothermal energy)

How does energy use impact on the Environment?

Most of our energy is derived from burning fossil fuels either directly in the home or indirectly in power stations. A high percentage of our final energy demand is produced by burning coal, oil, peat, or natural gas. Energy use can have many and varied detrimental impacts on the environment, most of which relate to the burning of fuel which releases pollutant substances into the air, though some relate to exploitation of renewable energy. The primary environmental impacts of energy use are as follows:

	Carbon dioxide emissions, leading to global warming		Smoke, smog and soot		Acid rain
